A Summary of ‘State of the World Vine and Wine Sector in 2024’1
Preparing for Paper 4 Wine Business, an overall understanding of general numbers around wine business and wine market seems to be in order. Luckily, I found this summary by the Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin (OIV), an intergovernmental organisation that provides expertise on all aspects of vine and wine production.
It might not be directly linked to any exam question but it won’t hurt to have the numbers sorted and categorized for study – therefore memorizing purposes. Because of that, the numbers are just listed and doesn’t include any interpretation. This is an excerpt of the OIV file published in April 2025 and the link to the full report can be found in the footnotes.

- Chile doesn’t make the cut of ‘major countries’ for consumption as wine consumption needs to be equal or above 2 mhl in 2024 and is included in Other countries. ↩︎
